International Commodity Trade
From Nigerian Sources to Global Markets
Mese Investment Limited supports international buyers seeking to source agricultural and other commodities from Nigeria.
Every international transaction has different commercial, logistical and delivery requirements. For this reason, we work with buyers to establish the appropriate specifications, quantities, destination, delivery requirements and applicable trade terms before a transaction is concluded.
Depending on the agreed commercial arrangement, transactions may be structured using internationally recognised Incoterms®, including:
Ex Works (EXW)
Under EXW, the seller makes the goods available at an agreed location, such as a warehouse or production facility. The buyer generally assumes responsibility for transportation, export clearance and other costs and risks after taking delivery, subject to the specific terms of the contract.
Free on Board (FOB)
Under FOB, the seller is responsible for delivering the goods on board the vessel nominated by the buyer at the agreed port of shipment and completing the applicable export formalities. Once delivery occurs in accordance with the FOB rule, the buyer assumes the relevant risks and costs associated with the main carriage and subsequent movement.
Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF)
Under CIF, the seller arranges and pays for transportation and minimum insurance coverage to the named destination port. Risk transfers to the buyer when the goods are loaded on board the vessel at the port of shipment, while the seller remains responsible for the agreed freight and insurance obligations under the CIF rule.
